This workshop-based course is for artists, curators, activists and cultural producers who want to tackle environmental issues through art projects. We will delve into expanded notions of ecology; intertwining questions of nature and society; and the different possibilities for artistic projects to address environmental issues.

Given the complexity of ecological relations, the ways in which we approach our projects must be holistic, grounded, multidisciplinary and caring. Therefore, we will address how to embed ecological principles within artistic programs, as well as how to maintain ecological consistency and integrity from start to finish.

This course will walk you through the steps of designing, implementing, presenting and documenting environmentally-engaged projects, with a special focus on tools for collaborating with people from different fields and backgrounds.

Participants are invited to bring their project ideas or develop an idea during the course, along with a readiness to workshop them together. Since the essence of ecology is relating, the course will take the form of an open dialogue in which participants share their processes and develop their projects through exchange and mutual support.

By the end of the course, participants will have a shared body of knowledge, tools and strategies, as well as a network of solidarity to help them carry on with their projects in their respective locations.
