Session 2. Hybrid Conditions - Mapping the Layers

This class will attempt to map the diverse layers of the term “hybrid” and define a common understanding of “hybridity”. What aspects, forms and layers does the term entail?

• How does “hybridity” relate to a curatorial practice?
  
• What are the potentials and the challenges of “hybrid formats”?
  

Session 3. Spatial Conditions - An Apéro of Commoning

This class will experiment with a potentially hybrid setting. We’ll meet in our kitchens and connect through the making of dough, reading of texts and sharing thoughts about the following questions:

• How have exhibition audiences been transformed by the lockdown experiences? How can mixed modes of attendance ensure comparable levels of participation?
  
• In our understanding of curating as a social practice, we approach exhibitions as spaces of the commons. How does “hybridity” relate to forms of commoning, and how does this translate into space? (eg. What might a hybrid third space look like?)
  

Session 4. Bodily Conditions - Sharing Presence

Let’s not forget that no matter what social, medial and spatial constellation we move in, we are living, breathing bodies. What does it mean to be present in “hybrid spaces”?

• - How can “hybrid experiences” include a feeling of shared presence?
  
• - What can we learn for “hybrid experiences” from other forms of cultural practice, such as theatre and performing arts?
  

Session 5. Concluding Conditions - The Book Sprint Spirit

This class will sum up our insights in a collective document in the form of a micro-book sprint to be shared after the course.
